Mid-Year Impact, Zetta AR1 Camera, Investigations in India, and More
Finding Strength in Community
Dear Supporters and Allies,

As we reflect on the past few months, we feel both humbled and hopeful. Across Asia and beyond, we have seen investigators step forward, activists connect across borders, and new tools take root in the field. In this issue, we are excited to share stories that show what is possible when we work together, from a new camera built for investigations, to grassroots momentum growing in India, to insights from the Berlin Conference.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue to protect and empower those who speak out for animals.

With Gratitude and For the Animals,
Abhishek Pandey, CEO

Mid-Year Impact: What You Helped Make Possible
With your support, the first half of 2025 has been a time of progress, innovation, and deepened impact. Here is what we have accomplished together so far:

  • Distributed 153 Zetta AR1 cameras to support covert investigations
  • Distributed 8 camera-on-animal (COA) units for specialized documentation
  • Completed the first batch of the Investigations 101 Online Course
  • Facilitated the onboarding of 6 animal advocates into our secure investigator community
  • Hosted two webinars on investigation-based activism and equipment use
  • Curated 11 new resources for investigators and added 17 users to our secure, one-stop knowledge hub
  • Directly supported 13 activists and investigators in their investigative work
  • Our tools have already supported more than half a dozen investigations worldwide
Each of these milestones brings us closer to a world where cruelty is exposed, truth is protected, and investigators feel equipped, connected, and supported. Thank you for making this possible.

Introducing the Zetta AR1: A Hidden Camera Built for Animal Rights Investigators
Investigators have long struggled with bulky equipment, short battery life, and cameras not built for the work they do. That is why Sentient partnered with Zetta Systems to develop something better.

In January 2025, after months of feedback and field testing, we launched the Zetta AR1 — a compact, energy-efficient camera designed specifically for long-term undercover use. It includes features like scheduled recording, lens flexibility, WiFi control, and excellent power performance. More than 150 units have already been distributed.

Early results have been powerful. In France, L214 used the AR1 to document cruelty at the Charlieu slaughterhouse, capturing powerful footage that led to a suspension of supply by Carrefour and legal action. Another experienced team shared that the AR1 helped improve their results and reduce risk during a recent investigation.

By combining technical innovation with field experience, the AR1 is helping investigators expose cruelty with more safety, precision, and impact.

Uncovering the Truth: How Investigations Are Powering Animal Activism in India
In May, Sentient co-hosted a powerful webinar with FIAPO and India Animal Fund titled Using Investigations to Grow Your Activism. The session brought together 40 participants from across India who were eager to learn how investigations can uncover cruelty and strengthen their activism.

Key Takeaways from the Webinar:
1. Investigations are for everyone, no fancy equipment required, just courage and clarity.
2. Sessions covered legal awareness, risk management, mental resilience, and how to get started.
3. Many attendees said it changed how they view their role in the movement.

More than a learning session, the webinar sparked a movement. It revealed a growing wave of activists in India who are ready to step up, document injustice, and drive change for animals in meaningful and lasting ways.

Financial Update and Gratitude
Together, We Closed the Gap and Built a Path Forward

Earlier this year, we faced a difficult financial period that placed stress on our planning and stability. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the commitment of our community, we are proud to share that we have now closed our funding gap for the year 2025.

This support made it possible for us to deliver core programs, support investigators, and invest in essential tools like the Zetta AR1 camera.

Looking ahead, every new grant and donation will go toward building our 2026 programs and creating a financial buffer of four to six months. This will help ensure we never again have to slow down our work due to shortfalls.

Our upcoming focus is to build investigative capacity across India and Southeast Asia. We plan to begin by running pilot programs in India that can later be adapted to other parts of the region. To ensure we are responding to real needs on the ground, we are currently conducting stakeholder consultations with animal advocacy organizations and independent activists. These conversations are helping us map the investigation landscape in India and shape a program that is both practical and impactful.

If you have already given, thank you for helping us reach this point. If you are considering contributing, now is the perfect time to help us build a stable and resilient future.
